OUR STORY
Why We Started The Foundation
The Chaka Khan Foundation (501c3), Co-founded by legendary artist Chaka Khan and her sister Tammy McCrary, was born from lived experiences—supporting women overcoming trauma, confronting substance abuse, and standing beside Tammy’s son Tallon as he navigated autism in a world that too often failed to see him.
What began as two sisters supporting women on their healing journeys shifted profoundly when Tallon was diagnosed with autism. Confronted with the lack of resources available, they expanded their mission, partnering with Cure Autism Now to raise awareness and later creating meditation and wellness sanctuaries for incarcerated women and youth. Every program since has been rooted in witnessing strength, courage, and transformation, and in amplifying the voices of overlooked communities ready to be heard.
Today, the Foundation has grown into a global movement for healing and empowerment— bridging overlooked communities with international conversations on wellness, creativity, and justice.
