The Chaka Khan Foundation (501c3), co-founded by legendary artist Chaka Khan and her sister Tammy Michelle, was born from lived experience and one of the most powerful forces in the world, a mother's love.
When Tammy's son Tallon was diagnosed with autism, she saw what so many families silently face: systems that weren't built with their children in mind. But more than that, she saw her son’s brilliance, sensitivity and his extraordinary way of moving through the world with honesty and depth.
Alongside her sister Chaka Khan, Tammy's deeply personal journey transformed into a mission to stand beside neurodivergent individuals and overlooked communities with partnership, advocacy, and unwavering belief in every person's potential.
What began as one family's experience grew into a movement, built on the understanding that no one should have to fight alone for the support, access, and belonging they deserve.
It all started with a mother, her son, and the unshakeable conviction that love, when it refuses to look away, has always been the most powerful force for change.
The Chaka Khan Foundation (501c3), co-founded by legendary artist Chaka Khan and her sister Tammy McCrary, was born from lived experiences—supporting women overcoming trauma, confronting substance abuse, and standing beside Tammy’s son Tallon as he navigated autism in a world that too often failed to see him.
What began as two sisters supporting women on their healing journeys shifted profoundly when Tallon was diagnosed with autism. Confronted with the lack of resources available, they expanded their mission, partnering with Cure Autism Now to raise awareness and later creating meditation and wellness sanctuaries for incarcerated women and youth. Every program since has been rooted in witnessing strength, courage, and transformation, and in amplifying the voices of overlooked communities ready to be heard.
Today, the Foundation has grown into a global movement for healing and empowerment—bridging overlooked communities with international conversations on wellness, creativity, and justice.
